Mahesh Bhupati and Lara Dutta officially announced their engagement
last week. The couple got engaged in New York where they are since
August for their own professional reasons. Mahesh is there for US Open
and Davis Cup whereas Lara is there for a photo shoot of a magazine.
Bhupati announced his engaged to the Bollywood star Lara Dutta through
his Twitter account. According to Lara, Mahesh proposed to her during US
Open.
The engagement gave an
official stamp to the couple’s relation as they were spotted quite
often at award functions and other public appearance. They neither
accepted nor denied their relationship. Lara Dutta was even accused of
breaking Mahesh’s marriage to
wife Shweta Jaishankar and is held responsible for their divorce to
which Lara replies that they met and fell in love a year after, much
after the couple separated. Shweta even opened up to media insisting
Lara had been responsible for the couple’s broken marriage to which the actor maintained silence with dignity.
Lara in an interview
told that Mahesh proposed to her over a romantic candle lit dinner and
took the actor by surprise by slipping in a diamond ring
with the stone picked by him and designed by him too. An elated Lara
informed, “Our families are excited. We love each other and our three
dogs. Life’s beautiful.”
Meanwhile the film
industry congratulated Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupati and the couple was
flooded with good wishes messages online.
