Modi wants BCCI to halt proceedings

Lalit Modi
Lalit Modi asked the Cricket Board to halt the BCCI's proceedings against him till the Bombay HC pronounces its order.
Modi had asked for recusal of two of the panel members - Arun Jaitley and Chirayu Amin - by claiming they were biased against him and the court reserved the judgement on his petition for Wednesday.

Modi's lawyer Mehmood Abdi said, "The arguments concluded on Tuesday. Keeping in view the urgency of the matter the court has reserved the judgement to be pronounced at 11 am on Wednesday.

"In view of this development we are requesting BCCI to defer the disciplinary committee proceedings at least till the judgement is pronounced because if we succeed the entire proceedings of the disciplinary committee shall be stayed," Abdi said.

Earlier the hearing of the three-member disciplinary panel, probing charges of financial irregularities against Modi, was suspended till evening due to indisposition of the third committee member Jyotiraditya Scindia.

The meeting was scheduled for 1000 hrs at Delhi this morning but with Scindia unwell with very high fever, the meeting had to postponed for this evening.
